Sayonara to dry skin with Hada Labo hyaluronic lotion
Never have a fell in love with a product so quickly and deeply. This tale begins with a random mention by my friend Emily back in 2013, when she was soon to become Mrs Li and she had been instructed by her bridal make-up artist to apply Hada Labo hyaluronic lotion daily to add more hydration to her skin. This would allow her make-up to glide on better on the big day. What made me curious was when she divulged another bride-to be's hydration boost, having religiously applied Hada Labo over the course of 9 months, drastically improving her skin before her wedding.
My personal journey with Hada Labo's Hyaluronic Lotion has been a self-discovery itself. At first I used it after washing my face, carefully pouring a HK$1 coin sized amount on my palm and then patting it on my face. Over a few weeks I noticed less flaky skin and inflammation which made my skin appear plump and radiant. With those glowing results, I tried using it on the rest of my body after a bath (I love baths!), this was an experiment as I have very dry skin which can be insufferable during the cold winter months. I found that Hada Labo acted as a shield to keep the moisture locked in when I applied my Physiogel AI cream.
The texture is similar to sticky water and sinks in easily when I pat it in lightly. To be honest, the term "lotion" is misleading when in fact it's more like a toner with a thicker consistency. Containing hyaluronic acid, it keeps the skin moisturised once it penetrates into the skin.
There's a TVC starring Korean megastar Jun Ji Hyun where she demonstrates how it's patted into the skin.
I've found that overall my skin has been more hydrated since "showering" myself with Hada Labo and tending to buy in bulk (hello 759 Kawaiiland and BestMart 360!) – my regime is now:
1) Gently pat Hada Labo onto my skin after bath / face cleanse (best to repeat this step 3-7 times on your face if possible, why? Here's why)
2) Apply serum
3) Massage oil and facial moisturiser on face and Physiogel AI onto my body
My recommendation would be to use it before other moisturising products, as it would help them "sink in" better on your skin. This product can easily be added into your daily regime and don't take my word for it, try it yourselves!
hada labo Hyaluronic Lotion (Moist/Rich)
HK$78.80 at 759 Kawaiiland | HK$79 at BestMart 360| HK$135 at Sasa, Watsons, Mannings
Prices at 759 Kawaiiland and BestMart 360 fluctuate from $75 to $130. I've noticed that only the larger stores may stock Hada Labo, so would suggest to call a particular store beforehand to make sure they have it on their shelves.
